Frequently asked questions

If something is not covered here, our care team answers calls and messages seven days a week.

Getting started

Do I need a doctor's referral?

No. Counselling on Arogyaminds is direct-access — choose a counsellor and book. If your situation would be better served by psychiatric care, your counsellor will tell you and can refer you onward.

How do I know which counsellor is right for me?

Start with the concern that brought you here, then narrow by language and whether you would feel more comfortable with a particular gender. Read two or three profiles — most people know within a paragraph whether someone sounds like a fit.

What if the first session doesn't feel right?

Tell us and we will help you switch counsellors, no explanation needed. A poor match is common and is not a failure on anyone's part.

Is there a minimum number of sessions?

No. There is no subscription and no package to commit to. Book one session, or twenty, at your pace.

Sessions

What happens in a first session?

Mostly listening. Your counsellor will ask what brought you here, what you have already tried, and what you want to be different. You will usually leave with one or two concrete things to work on.

Video or audio — does it matter?

Both work. Some people find audio easier for difficult subjects; others want the face-to-face contact. You can switch format between sessions.

What do I need technically?

A browser and a stable connection. Sessions run in Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox on desktop or mobile — there is nothing to install. Headphones are strongly recommended.

Are sessions recorded?

Never by default. Recording requires explicit consent from both you and your counsellor, and the recording belongs to you.

Payments & refunds

Which payment methods work?

UPI, credit and debit cards, net banking, wallets, and international cards for clients paying from outside India. A GST invoice is issued automatically.

What is the cancellation policy?

Full refund if you cancel more than 12 hours before the session. 50% between 12 and 4 hours. Inside 4 hours the fee is retained, since your counsellor has held that time and cannot fill it.

How long do refunds take?

Refunds are initiated immediately and typically reach your account in 5–7 working days, depending on your bank.

Does my insurance cover this?

Some employer health plans reimburse counselling. We provide a GST invoice with the counsellor's registration number, which is what most insurers require.

Privacy & safety

Who can see my session notes?

Only you and the counsellor you saw. Notes are encrypted at rest, are not visible to other counsellors, and are never shared with your employer, family or insurer.

Can I stay anonymous?

You can use only a first name or a preferred name. We need a mobile number for sign-in and reminders, and that number is never shown to your counsellor.

When would my emergency contact be used?

Only if your counsellor judges there is an immediate and serious risk to your life. This is a clinical obligation, and your counsellor will tell you if they are considering it wherever it is safe to do so.

How are counsellors verified?

Degree certificates and professional registration are checked against the issuing body, alongside government ID, address verification and a criminal background check — re-run every two years.
